To the People of Essex - Twenty Million Pounds!

Essex Community Foundation (ECF) is celebrating a major milestone in its history, having reached the £20 million mark in the distribution of grants to voluntary and community organisations across Essex, Southend and Thurrock.

ECF, an independent charitable trust launched in 1996, has paid tribute to the people of Essex for proving that philanthropy is not a thing of the past, and for being determined to support and sustain their communities.

New Chairman for UK Community Foundations

3rd May 2013

UK Community Foundations has today announced the appointment of David Sheepshanks CBE as Chair, succeeding Matthew Bowcock who has retired after six years, having served the maximum two terms as an elected trustee.

David Sheepshanks said: “Matthew Bowcock deserves great credit and our sincere thanks as under his chairmanship Community Foundations have developed and grown to the extent that the number of people using us for their local giving has doubled every three years.
