Local voluntary and community organisations are encouraged to apply for grants from the Essex & Suffolk Water Community Fund.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available from the Fund, which is managed by Essex Community Foundation (ECF). Grant applications are considered by an employee committee and projects given support must be related to either health and well-being, community support or the environment.
The deadline date for applications is 31 October, so now is the time for organisations to take up the opportunity to apply for a grant.
Projects which have received grants previously include providing a sailing boat for a Sea Scout Group in Southend, tools and equipment for a Men’s Shed project in Rayleigh, catering equipment for use at a community club which provides hotel meals for vulnerable elderly people in Basildon and covering the costs of a physiotherapist and teacher for a disabled swimming club in Maldon.
Michael Page, External Communications Consultant at Essex & Suffolk Water said, “Water is one of the most important commodities in our lives and we are very aware of the essential service we offer to our customers.
“Our Community Fund with ECF is just one way that we endeavour to engage with and support the communities that we serve on a daily basis.”
Essex & Suffolk Water established their Fund with ECF in 2003 to give support to a wide range of local projects and organisations now and in the future. Since then, 120 grants totalling nearly £85,000 have been awarded to voluntary groups and charities working in the Essex & Suffolk Water supply areas.
Paul Hill, Head of Grants and Programmes at ECF said, “We urge organisations to apply as these grants could give them a real boost to help them continue their much-needed work.
“The ECF grants team are always on hand so please call us to discuss any projects or applications in advance of submission.”
The closing date for grant applications is 31 October 2017. To apply click here or call the grants team on 01245 356018.
