RCCE Launch Essex Rural Fund

An Essex charity celebrates its 80th birthday this week and will mark the occasion by launching a new fund specifically for community groups and charities in rural Essex.
Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE) was set up on 30th April 1929 and has actively supported rural communities in the county ever since. It is well known today for helping villages carry out parish plans and develop projects to improve key facilities such as affordable housing, village halls and community transport. It also runs the annual Essex Village of the Year competition.
"Essex villages present a picture of tranquillity which masks the poor access to services and isolation...."
The RCCE is joining forces with Essex Community Foundation to create the Essex Rural Fund. It is appealing for donations from individuals and companies to build up a regular source of funding to support charitable groups and projects in rural Essex for years to come.
“This is the ideal time to set up the fund.” said Nick Shuttleworth, RCCE’s Executive Director.
“It provides an exciting focal point for our 80th anniversary celebrations, but it also links directly with the Government’s Grassroots Grants and Endowment Match Challenge which Essex Community Foundation is managing. Under Grassroots the Foundation can add 50% to any contributions from individuals or companies over the next two years. Gift Aid can also be claimed on donations from tax payers so by donating between now and March 2011 you can effectively double your money!”
“Many Essex villages present a picture of tranquillity which masks the poor access to services and isolation experienced by many rural people today. We want to develop the Essex Rural Fund to help local groups find their own answers to these problems.” Nick Shuttleworth added.
