ECF offers a range of philanthropic services which are tailored to meet your needs.
Whether it be identifying and funding local organisations who are delivering a particular activity or service in their community, bringing together panels of local residents to be accountable for spending funds locally, advising on tax effective giving through transfer of shares and leaving a legacy, or advising on the transfer of an existing charitable trust to the Foundation, our dedicated team are on hand to help.
UK Community Foundation (UKCF) published a Manifesto for Community Philanthropists, the purpose of which was to put into context the role of chartiable giving has in today’s world, based on the extensive experience of all UK Community Foundations.
Extract from the Manifesto:
For Community Foundations, our vision of philanthropy is of planned, strategic giving, made with a specific charitable end goal in mind. It is enhanced through other support, be it the offer of exceptional skills, experience and social capital. Philanthropy is a two‐sided engagement which vastly enriches the lives of not just recipients but also donors by helping each to understand the conditions, motivations and needs of the other. Community philanthropy recognises that philanthropists are most often motivated to engage with recipients (and continue and extend their support for them) when they share with them a common interest: geographic, ethnic, social or cultural. Community Foundations, for example, aim to identify common interests and develop strategies designed to bring philanthropists closer to the work of recipients – connecting “the doers with the donors”.
