The Government's £50 million Grassroots Grants Challenge Fund promotes local giving by encouraging donors to support small community projects. The £50m challenge programme, by far the largest such fund ever provided, will be used to create a direct cash incentive for individuals and businesses to to give money to build endowed funds to provide long term funding for local voluntary groups.

Essex Community Foundation who will manage the Grassroots Grants and Endowment Challenge in Essex, Southend and Thurrock, has set itself the target of raising £4.4 million to attract the £2.2 million on offer from the Office of the Third Sector. By meeting the challenge, the Foundation will have secured £6.6 million of additional endowed funding by March 2011.

If you are a tax paying individual, a donation of £1000 will be increased to £1920. If you are interested in establishing your own family/business Named Fund a donation of £25,000 could create a fund worth nearly £50,000.

Anyone interested in taking up this offer should contact Bob Sherer on 01245 355947 or e-mail.
