YESS. The Yoga Educational Support Society
YESS, A Yoga group based in Basildon, have received £4984 through the Grassroots Grants initiative to continue its good work in the district.

The Yoga Educational support Society was founded two years ago by Jane Sutherland to help people with learning and physical disabilities take part in the exercise. It will use the grant to run its classes for the next three years.
"Yoga is so beneficial for everyone"
Jane Sutherland said "I was delighted when I found out we had got the money because Yoga is so beneficial for everyone. It raises self esteem and teaches the group to learn to relax and makes it easier for them to deal with their disability and frustration so it really helps to promote a healthy lifestyle."
Unlike traditional yoga classes, emotional support is offered and time taken at the end of class to improve verbal and non verbal communication using sign language and discussion. Feedback from families and carers indicates how much the participants enjoy the sessions. The group has had huge success with young children with special needs, giving remarkable results in relation to behavioural problems.
