March Match Fund

After the brilliant success of the last Match Fund, Localgiving.com are pleased to announce that they have secured £375,000 ready for the next match fund starting on 1st March 2012 at 9am. Essex currently has 71 organisations live on Localgiving.com, all of which are eligible to receive match funding.

This means that all donations made to organisations currently live on Localgiving.com after 1st March 2012 will be automatically matched £1 for £1, for example turning £10 into £20. If you would like to double the amount you donate to an Essex organisation then please visit LocalGiving.com after 1st March 2012 to see all of our Essex organisations live on Localgiving.com.

If your organisation is live on Localgiving.com then make sure you contact all of your supporters to inform them of this brilliant opportunity for them to double their donation to you.

Essex Community Foundation is pleased to be part of an exciting initiative called Localgiving.com which allows people to search for, and give to, charities and community groups in their local area.  

Localgiving.com was founded by dotcom entrepreneur Marcelle Speller, who was recently featured on Channel 4’s Secret Millionnaire programme.  Voluntary organisations, including those too small to be registered with the Charity Commission, can create an online presence through which members of the public can easily locate and fund community projects in their local areas and easily donate money to their chosen cause.

Marcelle Speller, Founder and Chief Executive of Localgiving.com said, “Small local charities provide a unique and invaluable service to their communities. All Essex charities featured on Localgiving.com are independently vetted by Essex Community Foundation, in a process approved by the Charity Commission.   For an annual membership fee of £60 (£72 inc VAT), voluntary and community organisations can register on Localgiving.com and be helped to create an immediate full service fundraising website. Currently Localgiving.com is allowing groups to register for the first three months for free!

Caroline Taylor , Programmes Director of Essex Community Foundation, said, “We welcome the valuable contribution which Localgiving.com will make to the voluntary sector in Essex.  All too often, the hard work being done by local groups is unknown outside of their immediate network so having a website that gives them a platform to fundraise online will be a great boost.
