Essex Community Foundation (ECF) is encouraging accountants, solicitors and financial advisors to tell their clients about one of the best ever opportunities to invest in the community and help create long lasting life-changing benefits.
Essex Community Foundation has, over the past 13 years, brought about a quiet revolution in the way individuals, companies, families and organisations can give donations to underpin voluntary and charitable work and make a positive, tangible difference.
More than £15 million has been distributed in grants to over 4,000 causes at the heart of the community and ECF has also built up an endowed fund of more than £12 million to ensure that this vital support can continue for future generations.
Now, with the end of the financial year on the horizon, professional advisers are being asked by ECF, to spread the word to their clients about the way their money can be multiplied and channeled in a tax-efficient way to help tackle deprivation and inequality affecting all age groups in the community.
“We can add extra value to donations ...."
Bob Sherer, Development Director for Essex Community Foundation said: “We have a strong reputation, but people may not be aware of what we can offer and don’t have the in-depth knowledge we have gained about the work being done by charities and voluntary organisations.
“Most people want to help their community, but it is unlikely that anyone is going to wake up one day and say ‘I want to be a philanthropist and need someone to help me find a way of doing this.’
“The key message is we can provide a way for any gift of money to support community activities and be used in perpetuity, in a more long lasting way. We can add extra value to donations through initiatives such as the Grassroots Grants challenge which means that for every £2 raised the government will add £1. This is one of the best ever opportunities for effective giving and can virtually double donations given by basic rate taxpayers.”
