Comic Relief is working with Community Foundations across the UK to deliver the Local Communities programme. Essex Community Foundation is pleased to be one of the delivery partners.

The Local Communities programme offers grants of between £1,000 and £10,000. The aim of fund is to empower local people, enabling them to create lasting change in their communities. A Local Communities grant must be at least 30% of the total cost of the project.

Organisations which have received a Community Cash grant or any other grant from Essex Community Foundation can apply for a Local Communities grant. However organisations which hold a grant directly from Comic Relief, cannot apply for a Local Communities grant.

Grants will support work where there is clear evidence of a sustained beneficial impact on people’s lives who are excluded or disadvantaged through low income, rural or social isolation, age, disabilities, race, sexuality or gender. Support will be given to projects and activities that increase local services, builds skills of local people, increase community cohesion and/or respond to local economic needs. The Comic Relief guidelines give further information. The Grants Team are happy to discuss potential applications in the first instance. Call 01245 356018.
