Action for Family Carers and The Dengie D-Caf are among 14 Essex charities and voluntary organisations to receive vital funding for their work from the Provide Foundation.
Grants totalling £93,989 have been awarded from the fund established by Provide and managed by the independent charitable trust, Essex Community Foundation (ECF).
Set up in 2012, the Provide Foundation gives support to voluntary and community organisations that are delivering projects which improve the health and well-being of local people.
Action for Family Carers, based in Maldon and working across Essex, received the top award of £20,000 towards their work supporting people of all ages, who take care of a family member or loved one.
James Clarke, Chief Executive, said, “We are thrilled to have been awarded this significant funding boost which will enable us to expand our work with GPs, helping to connect us with people who would benefit from the services we offer.
“Caring can be a hugely rewarding experience, but without the right information and support it can be tough. By educating all members of staff in GP surgeries to recognise someone as potentially being a carer, we can reach out to even more people.”
The Dengie D-Caf were also recognised and received £10,000 to help provide a community nurse for Mid-Essex, particularly for the rural Dengie peninsular.
Provide is a community interest company (CIC) which delivers a wide range of community health services across Essex and in Cambridgeshire (including Peterborough), Suffolk and Norfolk as well as the London borough of Waltham Forest.
Derrick Louis, Chairman of Provide said: “At Provide, supporting local charities and voluntary organisations is an enormous part of our ethos as a community interest company (CIC).
Our partnership with Essex Community Foundation means that we can effectively invest funds into voluntary organisations in the most efficient and effective way and we are committed to awarding grants year on year to support the voluntary sector in Essex.”
