“This grant will help us to deliver food to the most vulnerable and ensure the elderly and disabled can keep attending their hospital appointments.”Clair Dade, Chelmsford Community Transport
We launched the Essex Coronavirus Response and Recovery Programme on 25 March so that we could provide a co-ordinated source of funding for the voluntary and community sector in Essex.
The demand has been significant with charities and community organisations struggling to manage with the loss of income from fundraising and services. Some are having to close or furlough staff as they cannot run their usual activities and others are having to quickly adapt their services to continue providing support in different ways.
We are committed to helping as much as we can through the grant funding we have available, so that local organisations can provide much needed support to their beneficiaries and local residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
National Emergencies Trust (NET) - We are working with NET to distribute funds, raised by this national appeal, to local voluntary and community organisations. Below you can see how these funds are being allocated.
Our Donors - have generously agreed to waive the specific criteria of their funds so that we can give as much support as possible at this time.
New Donations - we are working with existing partners and donors to ensure that any new donations are used to support our Response and Recovery Programme.
Below you can see how funding from this emergency Programme has been used to support local voluntary and community organisations. We are also publishing all of our grants on the 360 Giving Covid Tracker, which gives a national picture of funding to the sector.
