Application guidelines

Southend Community Fund

The Southend Community Fund was set up in 2001 and exists to support local voluntary organisations and their charitable activities within the borough of Southend on Sea.

It is also an alternative mechanism through which Southend people and companies can channel their giving locally.

What will it support

Your organisation must be active in Southend and your work must benefit people living, and working, in the Borough.

All applications to the fund are assessed by ECF, and a panel of local people meet to review and agree all applications.

The following organisations received a grant during 2017/18:

  • SOS Domestic Abuse Projects received £3,600 to extend the hours of a specialist counsellor for victims of domestic abuse
  • Southend Blind Welfare Organisation were awarded £3,500 to part fund the post of a training and development manager at a charity supporting visually impaired people
  • South East Essex Advocacy for Older People (SEEAFOP) recieved £3,000 to support a Debt and Finance Advocate project to prevent financial abuse of elderly people
  • Transpire Southend Transgender Network were awarded £1,000 to purchase branded wet weather clothing for use at community events to raise awareness of transgender and other LGBT issues
