                                    11Safer communities are important to all of us. This year we awarded %u00a3203,436 to 34 charities and voluntary groups for work and projects that contribute to community safety in Essex. This included %u00a330,000 presented by the High Sheriff of Essex, Mr David Hurst DL.The Essex Police Proceeds of Crime Matched Funding Scheme, established by Essex Police in 2014, enables us to match fund eligible donations and establish funds to support charities and voluntary groups whose work is contributing to safer communities. Funds set up with matched funding this year include: Anderson Family FundDenis Anderson was introduced to us by a friend and supporter of ECF. He wanted to set up a fund in the name of his family and by utilising matched funding from the Proceeds of Crime Scheme, it is helping his fund to grow more quickly. Essex Agricultural Society Community Fund For over 150 years the Essex Agricultural Society has supported the rural community in Essex. Establishing their fund will ensure they can keep providing support to rural based charities and community projects, with an emphasis on educating the next generation around rural safety, as well as highlighting where food originates from.Investing in safer communitiesMichael and Gillian Foulkes FundMichael Foulkes has launched his new charitable fund to support causes across Essex. Driven by a passion for local impact, the fund aims to empower projects that uplifts these communities and creates lasting change. Adrian West Fund After their son Adrian tragically took his own life, Linda and John West established a fund in his memory to support young people struggling with their mental health but who may not have the financial means to access help. The Fund will provide access to recognised programmes that show people they can overcome mental health challenges, can take control of their lives, and can truly thrive. For many of our donors, establishing a family fund is about more than giving. It%u2019s about passing on values, engaging the next generation and creating a legacy together.
