Essex Community Foundation (ECF) is an independent charitable trust set up in 1996 by a local family who wanted to make a difference in their community by helping local charities and voluntary organisations in Essex.Over 28 years we have expanded our work with individuals, families, businesses and charitable trusts, introducing them to local groups tackling issues in our communities. By investing the donations we receive and the funds we manage, we provide a sustainable source of funding that local organisations can tap into, year on year. We use our skills and expertise to carry out due diligence on applications made to us for funding and match the charities%u2019 needs with the wishes of our donors. Our grant partners tell us, on a regular basis, about the impact the funding has had.If you would like to get involved and give financial support to the Essex voluntary sector, please call us on 01245 355947.03 Chair%u2019s message04 Looking ahead to 203006 Building on a strong foundation08 Community spotlight10 Community philanthropy12 Leave a lasting legacy14 Philanthropy in action16 Our grantmaking18 Helping people achieve their full potential20 Thanking our supporters22 Our team23 Financial highlights24 Join in and help us make a difference Contents02 Essex Community Foundation Annual Review 2024This year%u2019s highlights%u00a33.3 million paid out in grants Donations received of %u00a33 million, including %u00a31.5 million into endowment466 voluntary organisations and 142 individuals supportedCharities requested 202 telephone interviews with our grants teams130 delegates attended our first Charity SymposiumCharities use our Foundation Hub for a total of 1,000 hoursProceeds of Crime Matched Funding Scheme celebrates 10 yearsFront cover: Firstsite in Colchester provides a wide range of community support, and runs a school %u2018Holiday Fun%u2019 programme for children and their families living with economic challenges.
