07Engaging the next generationWe manage around 197 charitable funds and the stories behind why people work with us are as different as the donors themselves. You can read about many of these on our website. Here we have highlighted two funds where families have engaged their children and how this has made a difference to their lives. The Anchorage Association, based in Brentwood supports children with special needs. They received %u00a31,048 from the Bartella Charitable Fund to help buy a minibus. We have been privileged to manage the Bartella Charitable Fund since 2006, working with Robert Bartella and his son Jason, along with Jason%u2019s wife, Lisa, and now their three daughters, Lilli, Fabi and Frankie. The fund mainly helps charities working with children and families and has given away over %u00a3370,000 since it was set up.It is an honour to be part of ECF. It has opened my eyes to those who need help close to home and it always fills me with joy to give back and see the smiles on the young people%u2019s faces when attending cookery classes or getting some new playground equipment, two of the many activities we have funded with the help of ECF. Thank you to the team at ECF and I am excited to continue our family partnership with you all. Lilli BartellaLilli Bartella pictured with her dad, Jason.Polly Hopkins joined us at our Spring reception at Layer Marney Tower and shared how her involvement with the Christopher Holmes Charitable Fund inspired her to take up a career in the charitable sector herself. Polly%u2019s dad, Martin, worked with Chris at Birkett Long Solicitors and was a close friend. Before he died, Chris asked Martin if he and his family would be advisers to his fund which supports charities helping people who have suffered unfairness and injustice. I am so grateful for my involvement with charitable giving from a young age. Chris%u2019 legacy is a lesson in generosity, kindness and philanthropy that I have carried into my adult life.
