This includes a home visiting service with advice on devices, aids and equipment that can help someone facing sight loss to maintain their independence. During the visits, they also provide emotional support, provide details of social activities to help alleviate feelings of isolation and signpost to other local support services. Funding was given from the Malcolm and Beryl Crook Fund which was set up to benefit local charities in the Brentwood area where the couple had spent most of their lives.Building confidence Becoming a parent is often a joyous experience, but for a few it can be an isolating, worrying and even frightening time.Parents 1st received %u00a310,000 to provide peer-support during pregnancy and beyond, in Canvey Island. They are a lifeline to the families they work with who often lack a support network and may have other challenges including mental and physical ill health, money and housing worries and relationship issues.Giving practical supportHearing loss is an invisible and often misunderstood disability. Hearing Help Essex helps alleviate the isolation and loneliness that hearing loss can bring, offering practical help, support, advice, and guidance. For over 30 years, their dedicated team of staff and volunteers have visited venues across the County, delivering support sessions and providing home visits. They received %u00a322,110 over three years towards a support service for deaf people in the Braintree district.
