Essex Fund Now Open for 2026 Applications

Eligible charities and community organisations can now apply for financial support from the Essex Fund, managed by Essex Community Foundation, with the application deadline set for 6 April. 

The Fund provides vital grants to help local organisations continue delivering essential services and community projects across administrative Essex. 

A Fund Dedicated to Essex Communities 

The Essex Fund was established in 2000 by Essex County Council and is managed by the independent charitable trust Essex Community Foundation. 

Since its launch, the Fund has distributed over £1.5 million to voluntary and community organisations, strengthening grassroots services and supporting people across the county. 

Organisations are strongly advised to check they meet the eligibility criteria and priority focus before submitting an application. 

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Must operate within administrative Essex under Essex County Council. 
  • Organisations based in Thurrock or Southend are not eligible. 
  • Priority is strongly given to organisations with an annual income under £200,000. 
  • Groups can apply for up to £5,000. 

Funding can be used towards: 

  • Core and running costs 
  • Project costs 
  • Capital items

  • Supporting Unpaid Carers 
  • Community-Based Environmental Projects 
  • Work with Young People 
  • Culture and Heritage Participation 
  • Community Resources 

Essex-based charities and community groups delivering valuable local services can now submit applications for this year’s round of funding. Deadline to apply is 6, April 2026
